A cyclone that hit Oman on 06.06.2007, it was devastating, alhamdulilah there were warnings long before and leaves were given during those days for most employees and all schools, so thanks to Allah, death was not very high, but the country was terribly affected in general.
My son was seven months, the rain wasn't stopping, our house was surounded by a fast flowing flood that takes everything on its way, it was raining continuously, the water reached the last step of the house (I was at my parents' house as my hubby was out of the country). It is a single-story house. I wore my Abaya, I thought it was our last day.I only thought of my little boy I am carrying. I only wanted him to survive. But just when the flood was making its way to the inside our house, the rain stopped...subhana Allah..we survived the cyclone, most of the people survived,,some houses were flooded to the roof of the third floor, some houses demolished as if they were never there once...the capital looked at those days as if it was in the sixties and seventies, but destroyed...
a reminder of how short this life is,and nothing remains the same...

I am honestly in shock. I am happy you and your family weren't hurt or even killed by this horrible disaster. I just told my husband about this and he said, yes I know, it was a couple days before we came to live in the UAE. OMG! wow! I didn't think the ME got natural disasters. CAll me nieve, but honestly i didn't think this. Alhamdulilah again and again y'all weren't hurt. (((hugs))))
I remember when this happened! I was in university and we were all reading the news, shocked. We had a few students from Oman.
I'm so happy that you guys are all okay. I can imagine how terrified you were. The line that says you only cared about your son--- *tears*
Such an important reminder for all of us. Jazaki Allah for reminding us.
May Allah keep all of our countries safe,
Texan,I myself couldn't imagine such a thing, but actually Oman had a similar cyclone during the seventies, it was less disasterous cos the cities werent the way the are now,& people werent concentrated mostly in muscat the capital..
We never imagined it,till it hit us..thanks for ur kind deep feeling..that's so sweet of u:):)
Sarira,it was everywhere in the news in the region, but not a lot was mentioned about it internationally, mybe that's why Texan never heard about it..
Thanks for the kind feelings,i feel like crying whenever i remember my emotions then especially related to my little boy..:)
